time traveling

Unable to quench Kitty's thirst this morning, the tea sat alone in the kitchen waiting to be drunk. By 10:30, she poured herself another cup of milky breakfast tea anyway. Water, apple juice, or lukewarm tea? The tea seemed to make time go faster. The morning hours had slipped by Kitty, unknowingly and unwittingly. Kitty was forced to add even more delays to her plans.

Planning and doing. Kitty was good at planning but not doing. Doing bothered her, it took too much time, was boring, or tedious. Doing meant she had to be active. Striving all the time, that would take a lot of energy out of her. Everyday, Kitty tried to convince herself that doing would be fun, and it would be good for her and actually give her energy. She could say she accomplished something today. It would be a good day, where she did everything right, in her opinion.

But her opinion was not so great this morning. The tea was winning, not her. Kitty wanted to slow down time, so she could accomplish all the things she wanted to accomplish today. Perhaps apple juice with lunch, Kitty thought.

Leftovers! Yum, thought Kitty, she liked cooking yesterday's dinner. It was easy, throw chopped up ingredients in a pot and stew for 30 minutes. No more bread though, the bread isn't good for Kitty.

One more e-mail, one more sentence, then lunch, Kitty planned in her head. The things she had to do were on a long list that kept getting longer, not shorter. What is urgent and what is important? She tried to sort it all out. Exercise is not urgent, but it is important. Creative writing is also like that. Kitty wondered how urgent really is her other work, the ones she's been planning off and off and the one the tea keeps making delays for.

Kitty smiled. Procrastination is part of the plan apparently. Procrastination must be really really fun, it's why Kitty can't stop doing it. Bring it on!
