"The sun doesn't think, compare or judge. It just shines for all life."
The scary beaver and choco-cat watched carefully with their mighty see-all-iscope. They observed all that Kitty did everyday in her office. What could they say about Kitty's diligence and work ethic? Her tidiness or organization skills? How she smelled before and after her daily regimen? How much she sat there and just snacked? Kitty probably would only find out on her performance review in omni-time, which meant never.
Kitty was trying something different today, to get her out of the funk she seemed to be in. She made herself sit by the cold running water as close and comfortably as she could. She dreamed of the other streams she used to visit back home, streams that had lovely tall green trees hugging them and no dogs allowed on the pathways. She tried to find that place in her, that was peaceful. That place that everything was okay with the world, always was, always will be. Stress happens, tragedies happen, people and opportunities come and go, fear of failure and writing blocks happen. What she could do now once she accepted and recognized these truths, is what mattered most.
The thing was, Kitty was not sure of herself. They call it insecure. Always wondering what others thought, how she would be judged in the end. This is silly, Kitty thought. What could bring Kitty security? Ruggles? Ah, but there are no guarantees in life, tutted an old Swedish cat (death and taxes notwithstanding). This must be another truth. She should be sure of herself, not in the idea of security. Tail up, head high, Kitty reminded herself to walk the walk and talk the talk -- she was fabulous and anyone else who didn't believe that could just get out of the way!
Steam pressed with new energy, Kitty looked forward to Friday. She had worked enough this week and planned to take the day off for shopping and fun in the sun. Kitty hoped Ruggles would have the day off too. She could put off her "urgent but not important" lower priority items and focus on the important but not urgent items.
Kitty sat up straight and gave a good look back to the scary beaver and choco-cat, through her marvelous sparkling cat's eyes. She would show them how strong, confident and secure she could be in the face of all the uncertainty. She would win, she believed. She believed.
