Kitty felt horrible. She couldn't imagine such desolate pain. Crawling back under the covers, Kitty wanted the world to forget her, leave her alone. She tried her favorite pink bobby socks on, but they did not make her feel any better.

Ruggles called in the afternoon. They had a nice talk. Ruggles hoped Kitty would feel better soon. Kitty could only remember when it wasn't so bad. Eat less junk, Dr. German said. Be more disciplined. Take things seriously. Kitty didn't like Dr. German. He was no fun.

Still, Kitty practiced the breathing exercises that Dr. German had taught her. At least she felt a bit calmer after that. The pain was still there, but almost bearable. Kitty searched the bookshelves for a nice distracting book. The sun shone in through the tawny curtains, which were nonetheless clawed up and hairy. Kitty didn't mind so much about that. She couldn't leave the apartment now just in case, in case another attack came. It hurt so much!

Next month, it will be better Kitty thought. As soon as this passes, I will be better and I will eat less junk, be more disciplined and take things seriously, thought Kitty as she snuggled into the covers once again with her meaningless stories. Best to take the day off, yes. Tomorrow will be better.
