And the next days rain

Kitty felt cold today. She was anxiously awaiting to start her new assignment, which should help her get out of the house more. There is only so much relaxing you can do, Kitty realized. Reading, playing, shopping, are everyday things that must be done. Her new assignment will not be an everyday thing. She thought instead about the last time she met her client.

Geoff was sprawled out on the floor of the hotel foyer, tired from the day's activities. Running around, chasing mice and men, collecting products and stories, Geoff had done it all today. Coming around the corner from the tucked away Rooms 310-321 corridor, Kitty was alarmed a bit when she saw Geoff on the floor, but relaxed when she saw him smiling and almost purring to himself. Geoff hadn't noticed her yet, as so Kitty thought.

"Hello, Kitty! You are early! Is the Room still locked??" Geoff sat up on his hindlegs.

Kitty jumped a little. "Yes, I knocked and tried to listen also, but there is no one in there. How long have you been waiting?" She looked at her wrist, but alas Kitty remembered her watch was in her hotel room 2 miles away. She took it off when her last session was done, as she was also tired of running around and meeting interview time slots that day.

"Suppose about 10-15 minutes. Brutal day." They discussed briefly what they could find, and hoped Tony would show up soon so they could get the de-briefing part over with and eat.

After the shop talk, Geoff started on jokingly "I am so glad I am not in the Real World..."

"What do you mean?" Kitty frowned after a few moments, not thinking he was talking about a TV reality program or a Bruce Springsteen song. Actually one of Kitty's recent favorites played on the solo tour. She was easily digressing from Geoff's sighs and poo-poohs.

Geoff purred for real this time and smiled a Cheshire cat smile. "Ah ha, you are curious still? Yeah, Tony deals with the big bucks, the huge churning burning industry, with managers with big credentials, that's the Real World. I have my own business and I get along well. I enjoy life."

"And you are saying Tony or I don't?"

Geoff sat up properly and looked Kitty in the eye. "Kitty, you work for an agency. They give you these crock-pot assignments. How much choice do you have in taking them?"

And that's when Kitty knew she had to work with Geoff, and try his "imaginary" world. With this simple uninitiated, unprovoked question, he had picked what was wrong with her declining performance at the agency for the last 6 months.

Now she waited for the delicious chance to prove to Geoff she chose rightly, and to really know the "Real World" that Geoff expounded to her that day was not all roses as she had once thought.
