Drowning in coffee and papers and e-documentation, Kitty looked up from her files at the clock on the far wall of the shiny and clean Best Coffee Shop. How did it get so late? Kitty dug through her rucksack for her own watch, for confirmation. Yes, she had missed all of her other appointments too. Perhaps Ruggles was also home, getting worried about why she wasn't home yet. She searched again in the fathoms that was her great green turtle on her back, for her cell phone. It was not in its usual place. This was however, not unusual for Kitty.
Not finding what she needed, Kitty began to collect and re-organize the package she received only that morning. Filled with so much information! Kitty wondered how it all fit into the 8.5 x 11 x 1.5 inch padded envelope. She closed the files on the computer and withdrew the CD-ROM and two memory sticks that were included. Her client was not so organized it seemed to be able to keep things in similar formats and media. Well, that's life, Kitty thought, and that's what they pay me for. To make sense out of all this nonsense. Kitty sighed heavily and rubbed her eyes underneath her reading glasses. Her rucksack full and the table empty, Kitty settled her coffee bill and slugged her sack and her self out of the booth and out the door.
The twilight colors and chill quickly got Kitty out of her thoughts on her work. The blue and pink swirls of cotton candied sky refreshed her sore eyes and put some spring in her step, even with her load. Thankfully it wasn't that long of a walk home, and Kitty was glad she could enjoy the city evening without too much fuss.
Ruggles was happy to see her, and had dinner ready to go. Kitty dumped the sack on the floor along with her shoes and put on her pink slippers. After a quick pit stop, she finally realized how famished she was. She couldn't really remember what if anything she ate at the coffee shop, other than day-old coffee cake. Best coffee, but not the best cake, Kitty remembered. Fish and cheese dinner, yum!
Ruggles related how his day went during dinner and Kitty happily listened and munched. She smiled and told Ruggles how much she appreciated him not worrying about her and making dinner. Ruggles, smiling back, "I had a sense the thing you were waiting for would come today, and you would get lost down the rabbit hole again..."
Kitty laughed. "Yes I was the rabbit today. A rabbit drinking loads of coffee!"

The new assignment on a sunny day
The sun was finally bursting through the clouds this morning as Kitty pulled back the blinds and curtains from her bedroom window. After 3 days of rain, Kitty was ready for good things to come. She got dressed in her favorite overalls with a baby T underneath, and her pink bobby socks. Cuter than a button, she paused to make sure all the clasps were tidy on her overalls while pausing to see the full length mirror outside her room.
Showering and eating breakfast, Kitty was refreshed and ready to tackle on the day. No napping today, thought Kitty, it's too nice outside! She put on her work boots just in case it was muddy. Hopping down the stairs, she grabbed her rucksack off the entry foyer table, tossed her keys and money purse in, and checked to see if Ruggles had left her any notes for the day. He left about an hour earlier than her everyday, trudging to work. Nope, no notes. Wrinkling her pink nose, Kitty remembered that she forgot to make Ruggles his lunch today. No matter, he probably could munch outside today, so she didn't feel too bothered.
Out the door and down the front walkway, she paused to check the mailbox. A bulky package was there! Finally! Her new assignment had come. Kitty inspected the package and decided to stuff it in her rucksack for now. She would examine it closer when she got to the Best Coffee Shop. She could dig down into her material better with a Caramel Latte and a chocolate chip cooky.
Adventure is here at last. What will her new assignment bring her?

And the next days rain
Kitty felt cold today. She was anxiously awaiting to start her new assignment, which should help her get out of the house more. There is only so much relaxing you can do, Kitty realized. Reading, playing, shopping, are everyday things that must be done. Her new assignment will not be an everyday thing. She thought instead about the last time she met her client.
Geoff was sprawled out on the floor of the hotel foyer, tired from the day's activities. Running around, chasing mice and men, collecting products and stories, Geoff had done it all today. Coming around the corner from the tucked away Rooms 310-321 corridor, Kitty was alarmed a bit when she saw Geoff on the floor, but relaxed when she saw him smiling and almost purring to himself. Geoff hadn't noticed her yet, as so Kitty thought.
"Hello, Kitty! You are early! Is the Room still locked??" Geoff sat up on his hindlegs.
Kitty jumped a little. "Yes, I knocked and tried to listen also, but there is no one in there. How long have you been waiting?" She looked at her wrist, but alas Kitty remembered her watch was in her hotel room 2 miles away. She took it off when her last session was done, as she was also tired of running around and meeting interview time slots that day.
"Suppose about 10-15 minutes. Brutal day." They discussed briefly what they could find, and hoped Tony would show up soon so they could get the de-briefing part over with and eat.
After the shop talk, Geoff started on jokingly "I am so glad I am not in the Real World..."
"What do you mean?" Kitty frowned after a few moments, not thinking he was talking about a TV reality program or a Bruce Springsteen song. Actually one of Kitty's recent favorites played on the solo tour. She was easily digressing from Geoff's sighs and poo-poohs.
Geoff purred for real this time and smiled a Cheshire cat smile. "Ah ha, you are curious still? Yeah, Tony deals with the big bucks, the huge churning burning industry, with managers with big credentials, that's the Real World. I have my own business and I get along well. I enjoy life."
"And you are saying Tony or I don't?"
Geoff sat up properly and looked Kitty in the eye. "Kitty, you work for an agency. They give you these crock-pot assignments. How much choice do you have in taking them?"
And that's when Kitty knew she had to work with Geoff, and try his "imaginary" world. With this simple uninitiated, unprovoked question, he had picked what was wrong with her declining performance at the agency for the last 6 months.
Now she waited for the delicious chance to prove to Geoff she chose rightly, and to really know the "Real World" that Geoff expounded to her that day was not all roses as she had once thought.

Today is the first day
Sleepy, but struggling to push forward to reach her dreams, Kitty reaches out and forces herself to press the Off button of the alarm, and shove her self out of bed. Kitty promises to write after she makes lunch for her husband, Ruggles.
Plodding towards the kitchen in her nightgown and special anti-slip slippers, she by-passes the food and water trays left out from last night and goes straight to the refrigerator. Kitty gets out the chicken and butter. Mmm milk, she pours herself a little glass. She gets a container so Ruggles can carry his lunch safely to work. She makes two sandwiches and puts a bit of salad in to be healthy.
Ruggles reminds Kitty on the way out to wash his work shirts after the Hoover repair cat comes to fix their tumbler. Kitty nods her head while enjoying her milk and favorite morning t.v. show. She will wash things after writing.
Her plans to do some gardening foiled by the rain and the lateness of the repair cat, Kitty decides to eat lunch and then take a nap. After a nap, she would be better suited to write, and wash clothes, and maybe even go to the gym. Yes, that is a better plan than the one I had this morning, Kitty mewed. Her soup bowl licked clean, Kitty prepared herself for a nap.

meow we like to sleep
one cat on top of another
with the mess of a house strewn about
the radio on
the contractors outside hammering away
the delectable doors closed to rooms
what else is there to do
but sleep

new leaf
Nothing like being sick to change your perspective. I could stay home all day and not talk to anyone other than my furry friends, Harley and Moe. Yes, here are two of them. So the challenge now is to post interesting things, everyday. Images, words, thoughts.
